Our Second, ‘For Ladies Only’: Tapas, Tea and Talk - (June 2010)

Since all agreed previously at our first Ladies Night that this should be a regular event, we decided to do it again. This time, thirty-five women of all ages enjoyed our informal get together at the Orange Room, a very fine New Westminster bistro.  The Orange Room provided our ladies and ET’s with fabulous Tapas, Tea, and Sangria and a great venue for social event.  Stay tuned for the next ladies evening!

WOW, I did it! You all helped me! (September 2009)

My personal goal of making it to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro with the rest of the team was reached. I am so thankful to their help and to the help of the guides and porters.

Fundraising, I reached my goal getting $1.00 for every metre I trekked up Mt Kilimanjaro, 5986 meters. I must thank all those so generous to give financial support to a great cause, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada and IDEAS (IBD adventures).

I would like to thank Rob Hill, of IDEAS (Intestinal Diseases Education and Awareness Society) who had a great idea to trek up Kilimanjaro as a fund raiser. By attempting to “Change Attitudes with Altitude,” this climb has established further awareness to bowel disease. May future IBD adventures serve to continue to educate others about bowel diseases!

Please see www.ibdadventures.com for more pictures and stories about our trek.

We will also be talking about our trek on our November 7 th education day- Don’t miss it!

May 01, 2008

A group from the "Underwear Affair" presented about a fund run. Participation in the Underwear Affair helps lift the taboo connected with cancers below the waist. Why are these cancers considered "taboo?" These cancers affect areas of the body that may be uncomfortable to talk about and that are often seen as embarrassing or shameful. One may not want to see a physician to get screened for these types of cancers. This makes care and treatment an unexplored option to some of those who need it. Shedding light on these cancers means more awareness and more funding, making research and treatment a reality.
